Photosynthesis

Hi. It's been a while. I've been working flat out on my dissertation for the past couple of months, alongside applying for jobs and you know, finding time to actually breathe. My latest project is on sustainable fashion, something I'm quietly passionate about. I've been adapting my own habits as  of late. Whilst I'll never be a 100% eco fashionista - there's not enough style-led ethical fashion within my budget right now - I am trying to be better. I haven't shopped at Primark in 10 months, I've started taking my trusty Urban Outfitters canvas bag shopping, rather than using plastic bags and I've tried to shop less, which has actually benefited my bank balance in a very positive way as well as a nicely edited, better looking wardrobe.

So in light of my dissertation, this is a little ode to our planet. You might not think of it's that important, but let's face it, where would we be with out it? Floating in space or dead, I should imagine.

Glitched Reality

In a time where social media and the internet has taken over daily life, I've been looking at glitch art and digitally distorted photographs. Whether it's by accident or on purpose, I think this is what life would look like if we lived IN the internet rather than on it, and as a self confessed social media addict, I think I'd quite like it...

The Colour Purple

Operation Dissertation Stress has been occurring for the past three months and I've managed to neglect my blog so this is a belated post on Pantone's very delightful colour of the year. There isn't a shade of purple I don't like so I'm rather pleased to say the least. I think Radiant Orchid is fun but sophisticated and mysterious but very honest. I'm looking forward to seeing what comes of the colour purple.

Black Magic

With halloween looming and winter edging its way in I wanted to show a more sophisticated side to gothic. This post channels mystery and the unknown, it is a feeling of bewitchery and dark enchantment. Black magic delves deep below the surface and unlocks the strange and unexplained.

The Quick Brown Fox Jumps Over The Lazy Dog

I have a bit of a thing about typography; if it's in Comic Sans, throw it in the bin. Fonts and layouts, those are what lure me in, if it looks good then it probably is good, that's why I pick up a magazine or a lookbook or even a flyer. My pet hate is a bad website or business card, the biggest turn-off when I'm looking at buying or booking something. A little bit of typography love goes a long way. I spend most days at my internship telling my boss how awful this website or that website is, it really sells a business short. Writing this has given me the realisation that I should probably get a life but someone needs to care about these things, yes? Oh, I do love a good font.
